In Turkey, a 92-year old founder of "Ülker" business empire, a Crimean Tatar national Sabri Ulker passed away.
He was born in 1920 in Crimea. When the boy was 9 years old, his family moved to Turkey.
In 1948 he founded cookies and biscuits production factory, and since 1974 "Ülker" became competitive on the international market.
Now the company produces and sells chocolate cakes, biscuits, milk and dairy products, carbonated drinks, hygiene products and baby foods and exports its products to 43 countries. Since 2000, the company is managed by the son of Sabri - Murat Ulker.
During his life, Sabri Ulker made invaluable contributions to the economy and social welfare of the Turkish Republic and, in particular, supported the development of education and social infrastructure of Turkey, opened libraries, computer labs, provided student scholarships and supported civic initiatives.
Mourning events will take place at Mehmet Fatih mosque, Istanbul.
